Hon. Yakasai Attends Signing of $158.15 Million Value Chain Programme for Northern Nigeria at Presidential Villa

On May 7, 2025, Hon. Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, in his capacity as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North-West), attended the signing ceremony of the financing agreement for the Value Chain Programme in Northern Nigeria (VCN) project at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The ceremony was chaired by the Vice President, Distinguished Senator Kashim Shettima GCON.

The signing of the agreement was performed by Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, on the implementation of the $158.15 million VCN project, which begins immediately. The project is aimed at supporting agriculture value chain development and value addition for farmers across nine states in northern Nigeria.

The initiative is co-funded by:

  • The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)
  • The French Development Agency (AFD)
  • The Government of Nigeria

In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the project is expected to sustainably reduce poverty, enhance nutrition, and improve the resilience of rural and vulnerable populations in the nine participating northern states, which include:

Borno, Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara.
